In this kitchen the luminaires had to blend in with the colours and character of the interior without dominating the furnishings or the paintings. I chose light, openwork forms that do not create a visual barrier in the space.
The priority was even lighting across the whole table. I used luminaires with a glass lens that limits glare and can be dimmed, to adjust the light level for everyday meals and evening gatherings.
Lighting the worktop without an electrical outlet directly above it was a separate challenge. The solution was a spotlight with a honeycomb louvre that reduces glare and an extended cable run to a power point outside the worktop area.
To protect privacy, the artworks shown in the photographs have been deliberately altered.
